·         Do you know that foetus can hear?

·         Can unborn baby learn in the womb?

·         Have you ever wondered that you can communicate with your unborn baby?

Can foetus or unborn baby hear?

A foetus's ears start to develop around 8 weeks and become complete at 24 weeks. A foetus begins to listen to his mother's voice and respond to outside sounds. Studies suggest that a baby's heartbeat slows down when his mother is speaking and he can be calmed down by his mother's voice. Studies show that most of the research done into prenatal learning has dealt with auditory learning.

When first son was 5 years ago, he was able to recall the experience in the womb. I asked him, "What did you hear in my womb when you were an unborn baby?" He said that he could hear to sounds, but they were not clear.  He heard gulp sound because I had wind during my pregnancy.  He heard grandma sang the song "Little Bo Bo".  He loves this song.  He could sing this song. From my personal experience, foetus can learn by listening.

Can foetus or unborn baby learn?

Newborns show a liking for their mother's language; French babies prefer to watch someone speak French, while Russian babies show a preference for Russian. Preferring language may be because of the familiarity of the language used by their mothers while they are in their womb.

A French experiment inferred foetuses from 33 to 37 weeks gestation displayed memory of a children's rhyme while still in the womb.  During the experiment, the mother read a certain rhyme to their foetuses daily; at the end of this time, the unborn children displayed recognition of this rhyme over other rhymes they had not heard.

How to communicate with unborn baby?

In the past, most people do not believe in communication with unborn baby.  They thought that they were quiet, isolated and unable to listen and respond to communication.  However, the recent improvement in science and technology show that foetus can respond to external stimulus and learning.  Studies show that unborn baby can learn and response when he or she is in the womb.

You can communicate with your unborn baby by talking to him or her as a person. They love to listen to their parents’ voice because it is special and unique to them. You can tell your unborn baby how much you love him or her.  You can also tell your unborn baby what is happening now and what is going to happen. For instance, when you pass by a shopping center, you can describe setting a shopping center to your baby.  You can also talk about the items that you are looking for and so on.
